The United States Navy Band Sea Chanters are ready to get down to their favorite “Jersey Boys” songs and the crowd is excited. The five men in the front line jive, boogie and jiggy to the upbeat 1960s-themed music!
It’s a little-known fact that the Navy has an official band, let alone an official chorus, which is what the Sea Chanters are in relation to the band!
The Sea Chanters first began in 1956 when Lieutenant Harold Fultz, the band’s assistant leader at the time, collected a small group of Navy School of Music members to sing at the State of the Nation dinner!
The group was an immediate hit and they continued to perform for a variety of audiences, both foreign and domestic, over the years. The Sea Chanters are the jewel of the band and the Navy has nothing but the highest remarks for them,
“Throughout their history, the Sea Chanters have remained true to the Navy’s watchwords of pride and professionalism, and they continue to flourish as a vibrant ensemble.” So when they are on stage, all eyes are fixated on their impressive routine!
