There are a lot of issues that come up in a school district, and often times faculty and staff are shorthanded and don’t have time to deal with the needs of every single student.
It just tends to be the way it is since teachers are very outnumbered by the growing number of students.
However; the staff at the Farragut High School in Knoxville, TN, is proving that apparently they have too much time on their hands.
Carson Koller, who is a senior at the school, accidentally took six chicken nuggets from the lunch line instead of the standard five…and he is being suspended for the alleged crime.
Koller is an Eagle Scout and the captain of the band’s drum line and generally viewed as a decent kid.
As to be expected, his mother is having a hard time justifying the boy receiving a one-day suspension for an innocent act…
“How is it theft if he paid for it? It’s food. FOOD!!! Not weapons. Not drugs. Not alcohol. Not cheating on a test. …
I am shaking my head over this and not sure what to do. Laugh, punish, argue, dress him up as a nugget bandit, or let it go,” said the boy’s mother, Carrie Koller Waller.
Doesn’t the school have more important things to focus on?
After Waller sent a letter to several school administrators and had a conversation with the principal,
the suspension was rescinded, but that doesn’t make up for the drama she had to go through to get there.
Waller also issued the following post on social media…
“I know it wasn’t your intent to overcharge Carson and I know it was not my son’s intent to steal an extra nugget from you.
He was hungry. He took six total nuggets. He entered his number, and the cashier rang him up.
