A restaurant in Hawaii is facing some backlash for posting a sign banning supporters of President-elect Donald Trump.
Honolulu’s Cafe 8 ½ is known for its signature dishes, such as the “Radiatore Verde” and “Italian stir fry,” Fox News reported. But an anti-Trump sign displayed on the mom-and-pop restaurant’s front door is getting mixed reviews.
The bright yellow handmade sign reads: “If you voted for Trump you cannot eat here! No Nazis.”
Photos of the sign were shared throughout social media.
“…The next time you’re in Honolulu, eat lunch here, not only are they on the right side of things, the food is delicious and reasonable,” wrote one Facebook user.
While some people applauded the sign, others were not so amused.
“It’s childish and very unprofessional,” Susan Roberts, a Honolulu resident and avid Trump supporter, told Fox News. “… The restaurant owner doesn’t have to worry … I will not be stepping foot in that establishment.”
“I’ve eaten here twice in the past during vacations. Food has always been good, service decent,” wrote one Yelp reviewer. “But the nonsense sign is a huge turnoff. Doesn’t matter if it was saying the opposite thing (ie no Clinton supporters). It’s simply inappropriate.
