“So this is really going to help us with covering rent and other bills,” the expectant mother said. “I couldn’t believe what I was looking at it at first because it’s such a high amount. Nine-hundred dollars is a lot of money. And it took a while for it to set in. Once it did, I cried for a little while.”
Clark admitted that she had previously seen the customer, who is also pregnant. They had chatted briefly and had pleasant interactions.
“I had talked to her in the past about my fiancé being injured and him being out of work. It was just a really amazing token of generosity,” Clark said.
But the generous Good Samaritan didn’t want to take credit for the act of kindness. On the receipt, the customer wrote:
“This is God’s money – he gave it to us so we could give it to you. God bless.”
Clark didn’t notice the generosity at first. But later, the good deed struck her and she “broke down”…
“I didn’t have the chance to look at the receipt anyways until after she had left. I saw it, and I broke down,” Clark recalled. “Thank you so so much. I don’t know if she really understands how much this is going to help us.”
