Pet food producer the J.M. Smucker Company has issued a limited voluntary recall on 20 canned cat food products being sold under the brand names of 9Lives, EverPet and Special Kitty.
The company has found the products may have low levels of thiamine (vitamin B1) that can lead to health problem in cats.
Cats that regularly ingest food with low levels of thiamine may develop a deficiency, the Food and Drug Administration reports.
Symptoms of a thiamine deficiency in cats largely feature neurological or gastrointestinal issues, as well as a small appetite, increased salivation and weight loss.
A judge looked this inmate straight in the eyes and said something that left the entire courtroom in tears:
Neurological symptoms may appear in severe cases and include wobbly walking and seizures, reports Fox News.
Cats suffering from thiamine deficiency can recover quickly with the right diet and treatment.
