A Colorado mother got a big surprise after she sent her daughter to preschool with cookies.
The Children’s Academy, a private preschool in Aurora, Colorado, sent a note to Leeza Pearson after she included some Oreo cookies in her daughter Natalee’s lunch bag, along with a sandwich and string cheese, reports ABC News.
The letter, which 4-year-old Natalee brought home, cautioned parents about what was acceptable for lunches:
It is very important that all students have a nutritious lunch. This is a public school setting and all children are required to have a fruit, a vegetable and a healthy snack from home, along with a milk. If they have potatoes, the child will also need bread to go along with it. Lunchables, chips, fruit snacks, and peanut butter are not considered to be a healthy snack. This is a very important part of our program and we need everyone’s participation.
Pearson was so shocked by the “lunch shaming” letter she shared it with ABC News.
“I think it is definitely over the top, especially because they told her she can’t eat what is in her lunch,” she said. “They should have at least allowed to eat her food and contacted me to explain the policy and tell me not to pack them again.”
Della Curry was fired from her position as a kitchen manager at Dakota Valley Elementary School in Aurora, Colorado, after she gave school lunches to children who couldn’t afford food.
“I had a first grader in front of me, crying, because she doesn’t have enough money for lunch. Yes, I gave her lunch,” Curry said.
Curry doesn’t deny she broke the law by feeding the children something other than the designated meal for low-income families, which consists of one slice of cheese on a hamburger bun, and a small milk. Still, she isn’t sorry for what she did. “The law needs to change,” she said.
In the Cherry Creek School District, students whose families make $31,000 annually qualify for a free lunch, but families that make less than $45,000 qualify for a reduced lunch. Though those numbers fluctuate depending on the size of the household, Curry said there’s a problem with that system.
“Kids whose parents make too much money to qualify, but a lot of times they don’t have enough money to eat,” she said.
The students she was fired for helping didn’t qualify for either program. It wasn’t the first time Curry helped a student in need — she told CBS4 she has paid for lunches before with her own money.
When it comes to an American kitchen, you’re bound to find a squeeze bottle of ketchup in the fridge. And many people trust Heinz brand ketchup to use on their hot dogs, hamburgers, and other American staples.
Unfortunately, using ketchup is not good for your health.
Although ketchup is the most popular condiment in the country and is an American tradition, there are a number of bad things about it that doctors are urging your to learn.
Here is the warning that health professionals are asking you to listen to very carefully…it’s in the best interest of your health!
Even though Ronald Reagan pushed to officially categorize ketchup as a vegetable so he wouldn’t need to improve school lunches, it contains a lot of dangerous chemicals that are detrimental to your health.
Although you’d probably think tomatoes are the only ingredient in ketchup – think again.
Most manufacturers of the condiment, like Heinz, don’t even use fresh tomatoes, they use something called tomato concentration – which is a dried version of red tomatoes that needs to have water added.
Although the first ingredient is a bastardized version of a ripe red tomato, Heinz ketchup’s ingredients quickly deviate from wholesome.
After the tomato concentrate, they included distilled vinegar, high-fructose corn syrup (which is a sweetener that has been processed from corn), corn syrup (more sugar to add to the mix), salt (which increased your risk of high blood pressure), spices, onion powder, and natural flavoring.
Going out to eat together as a family provides a chance to reconnect with one another after a long day at school or the office. Not to mention finally eating the food you have been craving all week sweetens the deal even more!
Typically when you go to a restaurant, you are given the option to either sit at a table or a booth with your loved ones. Well, when one family spied an empty booth that they weren’t allowed to sit in, they decided to take a picture of it for a very unique reason…
Patrons should be able to sit where they choose, whether they want a booth or a table. However, one restaurant had a specific booth unavailable that evening, regardless if anyone requested to sit in it or not.
The restaurant, Texas Roadhouse, is used to getting a plethora of patrons visiting them day in and day out. Their food is affordable, delicious, and very unique with how they present it. Not to mention how the whole staff sings and dances periodically to entertain their guests is an added bonus.
On this particular night, the family respected the restaurant even more for why they reserved a certain booth.
When the family took a closer look, they noticed the table had a white tablecloth, was surrounded by patriotic flags, a sign was present on the table, and it was set up in an elegant way for five people to sit there.
The table was reserved for the five slain police officers during the recent Dallas, Texas sniper attack. Dallas police officers were ambushed by multiple snipers, which in the end cost the lives of five brave officers.
Have you ever purchased something at the grocery store, but when you got home, you realized you picked up the wrong size or brand or color? It happens to us all. But what happened with one woman’s grocery store mix up could have been harmful if she hadn’t been paying attention.
A Mustang, Oklahoma, woman recently opened a bottle of pills she purchased at her local Wal-Mart store and found the wrong medication inside. She reported the pill problem to the police, but there is still confusion about the details of the incident. Read on to hear the whole story and learn what you can do to stop the same thing from happening to you.
When Amber Johnson opened a bottle of over the counter antacids, she found something shocking inside. Instead of the small, green tablets she was used to seeing, she found crushed up versions of another brand altogether.
“[There was] nothing wrong the box or bottle, completely sealed, the glue’s sealed, the silver foil on the top was still sealed, just like any of the previous bottles I’ve purchased before,” she said.
She contacted the manufacturer right away in an attempt to get to the bottom of the incident. “Once they transferred me to the manufacturer, they asked me several questions, got the information on the box, and they seemed about as shocked as I did,” she said.
The pills inside Johnson’s medicine bottle had the brand name Tums written on them, even though the packaging read Equate. The two brands are not manufactured at the same plant.
One Pennsylvania student’s overcooked school lunch has gone viral, disgusting many nationwide.
Someone uploaded a photograph of the gray- and brown-colored hamburger onto Facebook on Nov. 14, drawing reactions from hundreds, the Daily Mail reports.
Many were so shocked by the food’s appearance, they wondered if it was even safe to eat.
“I work in a school cafeteria,” wrote one user on WJAC’s Facebook page. “If that burger had come out of my oven looking like that it would have went in the garbage…not on your child’s meal!”
Others declared it was proof that schools needed to completely overhaul their cafeteria menus, arguing the food is unhealthy and unsafe.
Dr. Luke Lansberry, superintendent of DuBois Area School District, where the burger was served, said the district had since stopped serving the hamburger.
“Our food service director has contacted the state and told them about the situation and made it clear we will no longer accept that product in the district, just to make sure that we have good-quality food,” Lansberry said. “It’s something we’ll learn from and overcome and I have 100 percent confidence in the food service staff here that work hard to make great food for all of us.”
At the same time, Lansberry defended the meal.
He says the hamburger was perfectly safe to eat, and had been served more than 300 times with only one complaint. Lansberry said the hamburger only looked bad because it had been overcooked, not because it was dangerous to consume.
When one tormented girl realized that it was time to get back at the bullies who ruined her childhood, she baked some cupcakes with a laundry list of disgusting ingredients inside.
The 10th grader at Centennial High School in Bakersfield, California allegedly handed out cupcakes to a number of bullies and tormentors that contained pubic hair, semen, feces, expired food, and pills baked into them.
But this female vigilante made sure to only give the disgusting cupcakes to the people had tormented her and made her live unlivable. This was her way of getting revenge on the group of bullies who made her hate herself. This was her way of being a hero.
The 10th grader watched the bullies eat the cupcakes. They took big bites into the semen-filled sweets. And within seconds, their first reaction was one of pure disgust.
Some bullies asked the girl why the sweets didn’t taste good. She told them that she put bodily fluids inside her baked goods.
Because all the cupcakes were destroyed before the authorities could get involved, the health department was called off the investigation. Therefore, no test could be done to truly identify the despicable ingredients inside the disturbing treats.
Despite the girl’s disgusting claims, the Bakersfield Police Department reported that no bodily fluids were found inside the sweets. But how they came to this conclusion remains unclear because the cupcakes were never tested. Perhaps, the police were just trying to look out for the victim of bullying and defend her so she wouldn’t get in too much trouble for her ingenious prank.
The Bakersfield Police Sergeant Joe Grubbs said that the cupcakes were baked with household condiments like mayonnaise, soy sauce, and barbecue sauce to give it the disgusting taste.
The officers ruled it “nothing more than a high school prank” that got wildly out of hand.
For a long time, aluminum foil has been a kitchen staple. Open up anyone’s utility drawer and you’re bound to find a roll of the silver thinly printed metal. Why? Because it is extremely useful and effective for many kitchen and household tasks.
Foil is often used to cover your casserole and other oven-ready dishes. But now research is showing that if you cook with aluminum foil, you could be exposing yourself to some pretty serious health risks.
In the article below, we will present you with the facts on cooking with aluminum foil. Learn what can happen and then make the decision to use it or not for yourself. But the research is pretty clear…
Simply put, if you cook with aluminum foil, you are playing with your health.
The first thing you need to know is that aluminum is bad for your brain. It is a neurotoxic heavy metal that has been linked to Alzheimer’s disease for years.
Exposing yourself to this metal can lead to mental decline. Prepare to suffer in terms of coordination, bodily control, memory, and balance. Sadly, many who suffer from poisoning with this neurotoxin, the damage is permanent. You could experience gaps in memory that can create a divide between you and your loved ones if this chemical does the worst it can.
Besides damaging your brain, cooking with aluminum foil can also negatively affect your bones. This metal can build-up inside your bones. This is bad because it competes with calcium for space inside your bones and often wins out over the essential mineral. Although an aluminum skeletal frame sounds like something from science fiction, are bodies are made for fact – not fiction. So, it simply won’t work well for us. You need calcium to prevent your bones from breaking in a fall.
From here on out, the risk of cooking with aluminum continues to grow. It is also bad for your lungs. Breathing in aluminum particles has been proven to lead to respiratory problems, like pulmonary fibrosis. Even if you grill with aluminum foil, you could be breathing in these particles and slowly destroying your lungs.
At least went it comes to watermelons, the summer treat that nearly everyone loves. The tasty fruit can be eaten in a variety of ways including: by the slice, as a smoothie addition and even as a way to sweeten up your salad. They are even used as a bowl for certain summery cocktail mixes where friend can gather around and soak up the sun while sipping through a straw. The growth of the fruit’s reputation has spiked, but in China, the growing fruit has had detrimental effects.
Unknown to China farmers, they had been using a fertilizer that contained a chemical called forchlorfenuron. The chemical has the power to expand the size of a watermelon by 20% at a more rapid pace, which ultimately leads to greater profits. At least that is what the fertilizer company thought.
When farmers had started to see their melons breaking in half and taking on a shape that was absent from their natural form, they were alerted. Even the taste and texture was altered from its original state. Farmers saw an abnormal amount of white seeds when the fruit normally contained mostly black seeds
The breaking in half of the watermelon was said to look like an explosion. While the chemical, which has been utilized since the early 1980s, is thought of as safe, Director of the Vegetable Research Institute at Qingdao Academy of Agricultural Science Cui Jian stated that it is best to veer away from plant hormone chemicals because watermelons are particularly sensitive to chemicals.
While the chemical used in the fertilizer seems to have the power to explode a watermelon, it has been confirmed that it is not harmful to health. The major downfall of the oversized fruit caused by the chemical is the watermelon may end up looking slightly abnormal and not many people have the room to store such a large food item that has a less-than-natural taste.
While Jian made his statement, the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) countered it with an argument of their own. Also used in kiwis and grapes, the fertilizer is proven to be cytotoxic and can lead to acute dermal, oral and respiratory toxicity if ingested. While not carcinogenic, the substance contains toxins that can lead to bigger issues including increased fetal mortality and stomach lesions. Multiple tests have been completed on animals and proven to cause damage.
In addition to the toxin damage, the chemicals in the fertilizer can spread into the environment leading to damaging effects on our health that stem from the chemical blending with flora and fauna.
The Chinese government will continue to use its power to maintain an increase in food production, regardless of the poor effects on our health and the environment.
While the output of food is very important to the Chinese government, they offer a bit of hope in veering away from the toxin filled fertilizers and urge consumers to aim for organic fruit and vegetables.
America is the richest country on the planet. But because of people like this woman in this story, we get a bad rap and people think this country is falling into oblivion.
Pictured here, 64-year-old Ann Wurtzburger has filed a lawsuit against Kentucky Fried Chicken for $20 million because of something absolutely ridiculous.
Normal people would assume that something terrible happened to Wurtzburger for her to be able to sue the fast food giant for that much money. Common sense would back this assumption up. You might think she slipped and fell, or was fed cleaning solution in her drink instead of Coca Cola. Or maybe her grandchild choked on a chicken bone and died.
But nothing like this happened to Wurtzburger and she decided to sue the fried chicken joint anyways – because she is not normal. She’s actually a money-grubbing swindler, so she’s suing KFC for $20,000,000 because the bucket of chicken she paid $20 for was only half full of chicken…
You might be wondering, ‘why didn’t she just go back in the store and ask them to fill it up?’ If that’s what you’re thinking, then you are a normal human who deserves a place in the American society.
But this grandmother Ann Wurtzburger would NEVER have asked for more chicken. She’d rather use their mistake as an opportunity to line her pocketbook.
As she said: “I came home and said, ‘Where’s the chicken?’ I thought I was going to have a couple of meals. They’re showing a bucket that’s overflowing with chicken. You get half a bucket! That’s false advertising, and it doesn’t feed the whole family. They’re small pieces!”
After confronting the store, Wurtzburger admitted that KFC offered her $70 worth of gift certificates to right their wrong. But she sent them back because this is about “the principle of the matter” and now the money.
When it comes to brands of canned tuna fish, Bumble Bee ranks up there as one of the most popular. But recently, the food company announced a voluntary recall of its popular product – Chunk Light tuna – because of a serious health scare.
A total of 31,579 cases of the canned fish were recalled after they were produced in February 2016 and distributed nationally.
Why are they calling back thousands of cans of tuna? Bumble Bee admitted a packing deviation by a facility not owned or operated by Bumble Bee that could result in contamination by spoilage or pathogens – if consumed this could lead to life-threatening illnesses…
Although no illness from the canned tuna have bene reported, Bumble Bee wanted to be on the safe side and voluntarily issue the recall before customers became sick.
The Bumble Bee Foods recall affects 3 specific UPC codes (8660000020, 8660000021, 8660000736) of canned Chunk Light tuna.
Do you think you have a potentially deadly can of tuna in your pantry?
Check for the can code which starts with a “T” (example: TOA2SBCABF) and have the following “best by” dates:
5oz Bumble Bee Chunk Light Tuna in Water – 02/10/2019, 02/16/2019, 02/17/2019, 02/18/2019, 02/22/2019, 02/23/2019, 02/25/2019
5oz Bumble Bee Chunk Light Tuna in Oil – 02/23/2019
4 Pack of 5oz Bumble Bee Chunk Light Tuna in Water – 02/9/2019, 02/10/2019, 02/22/2019, 02/29/2019
Because Bumble Bee wants their customers to be safe, they’re working closely with the co-packer who developed the problem and the FDA to remove the product from store shelves.
If you have already eaten the product, then this is what you should do, according to Bumble Bee:
“Under-processed affected products could result in product contamination by spoilage organisms or pathogens and lead to serious illness if consumed. There have been no reports to date of any illness associated with these products.”
If you have any recalled product in your home, you’ve been advised to throw it away.

Bumble Bee urges: “Confirm that the product you have is one of the products listed above by checking the product and the lot code. Once you’ve confirmed that you do have a recalled product, please discard the product by disposing in the garbage.”
The Jimmy John’s restaurant chain is bad. When I say bad, I mean bad, even for a fast food restaurant.
For one, the company treats its employees like absolute trash. Every employee has to sign a non-compete agreement that prevents them from working at any sandwich store within a three mile radius of a Jimmy John’s.
That’s bad. But it’s not even the worst part.
No, the worst part would be what the company’s owner does with all the money Americans fork over for his unhealthy grub.
You see, it turns out that Jimmy John Liautaud has an affinity for killing endangered animals in Africa.
Full disclosure, what you’re about to see might be disturbing.
As Business Insider reports, Mr. Jimmy John has killed elephants, zebras, leopards, rhinos and other animals – all for no reason other than sport.
Here, you can see the man posing with a gravely endangered black rhino. The license Mr. Jimmy John purchased to kill the beast reportedly cost $350,000.
It just made no sense to the family. Tracy Clarenson took her son, Hayden, to his favorite place to eat for his seventh birthday. It was a local buffet. All of a sudden, an employee kicked the entire family out because Hayden was eating too many crab legs.
“We were actually finishing up with our meal, and toward the end of the meal, my son came back and told me that he was told he couldn’t have any more crab legs because he ate too many,” said Tracy. “I was shocked that they said he ate too many crab legs.”
The mother explained to the worker that they were all eating the crab legs, but Hayden just wanted to get them and bring them over.
“We explained to her there were seven people at the table. Three of us were eating crab legs, and my 11-year-old was going up and getting them for us,” Tracy told ABC Action News. “She told us, ‘That’s all you eat, you don’t get any more — get out if you don’t like it.’”
Tracy didn’t understand. It was an all-you-can-eat buffet. Her other son, 11-year-old William, was accosted by an employee as well. When Tracy asked to see the manager, the employee refused.
Hayden is young and has mild autism, so the situation was incredibly upsetting.
“He was upset again this morning and said, ‘Mommy, can we go back,’ and I said, ‘I don’t think so, honey.’ He kept asking what was too many, and why did William eat too many. He didn’t understand,” she said.
Believe it or not, the garlic you buy from the grocery store or is in the food you get at a restaurant is probably from China.
This is an awful thing!
According to Epoch Times, “64,876 tons of dried, fresh, or chilled garlic, were imported from China in 2014… About a third of the garlic in the United States comes from China.”
Our garlic isn’t coming from California anymore, it is being imported from China. Quality control is a big issue, but it pales in comparison to how and where this garlic is grown.
Many Chinese farmers use pesticides that are illegal to use for farming purposes in China. “An undercover magazine reporter investigating in the area found that many vegetable farmers used phorate and parathion, two pesticides banned by the government, to irrigate the crops to save time and effort.” (Epoch Times) Both phorate and parathion have been labeled HIGHLY TOXIC POISONS.
China’s pollution problem and soil is also a cause for concern. “An official government report in 2014 showed that nearly a fifth of China’s soil is contaminated by heavy metals like cadmium and arsenic as well as unhealthy amounts of pesticides and fertilizers. Severe pollution has tainted all of China’s major rivers with large amounts of industrial chemicals and household waste.” (Epoch Times)
A San Antonio police officer has been fired for allegedly having “picked up some feces, placed it in a slice of bread, and put it in a Styrofoam container next to [an] unknown homeless male.”
The officer, Matthew Luckhurst, was a five-year veteran of the force at the time of the incident, reports San Antonio Express-News.
A press release from the Chief’s office alleges that Luckhurst bragged to a fellow officer about giving a homeless man a feces sandwich.
The officer told Luckhurst to go back and throw it in the trash. He saw Luckhurst return to the scene, and assumed that he discarded the container.
Luckhurst’s attorney, Ben Sifuentes, says that it was a joke that went too far, and called the charges against his client unfair.
“It didn’t happen,” Sifuentes said, adding that there were no eyewitnesses or video evidence, and no statement from the homeless person.
Dallas News reports that Mayor Ivy Taylor said in a statement: “His actions were a betrayal of every value we have in our community, and he is not representative of our great police force.”
The relationship between the San Antonio police and the local homeless population has been strained, according to the San Antonio Current.
Last year, Chief William McManus created a homeless outreach team within the San Antonio Police Department, which would connect the indigent with social services, temporary housing, and drug treatment.
Stuffing might be a favorite dish that you normally only make on Thanksgiving, but why not have it more often? It’s one of the best comfort foods, with gravy poured all over the top.
That’s why Jen from Cincy Shopper came up with the best recipe for an easy dinner using the slow cooker! She made chicken and stuffing in her Crock-Pot using just four ingredients, and it is so delicious!
“I made this super easy slow cooker chicken and stuffing this weekend and I think it may just be my family’s favorite Crock-Pot meal yet,” Jen wrote on her blog post about the recipe. “With just a couple chicken breasts and some Stove Top stuffing, we have a comfort meal that is so super easy.”
It’s the perfect meal for fall to start getting you in the holiday spirit, and it’s great for those busy nights as well! To make it, Jen started by first placing her boneless chicken breast in the bottom of her greased slow cooker.
She sprinkled a little bit of salt and pepper over the meat and then added the box of Stove Top stuffing mix over the chicken.
In a separate bowl, Jen mixed together two cans of cream of chicken soup and two cans of chicken broth until they were well combined. Then, she poured the sauce over the stuffing and the chicken inside the slow cooker.

Walmart employee James Philips works as a greeter with the Walmart store in Blue Ridge, Georgia. He enjoys greeting customers by telling them to ‘have a blessed day,’ and had done so for years. But when one customer complained, Philips was instructed not to use that expression anymore.
In response, supporters flocked to social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter to express their anger toward Walmart and support for Philips. ABC13 even reports that hundreds of fans took trips to Philips’ Walmart store to meet him in person. “I wasn’t trying to start a movement, but I am very appreciative that people thought enough of me to stand up for me this way.
“I want to just be one of the best greeters I know how to be,” he tells WSBTV.
As Philips’ story gained media attention, the Blue Ridge community rallied around the Walmart greeter and took a stand against Walmart. The overwhelming public support for Philips forced Walmart to ‘cave,’ as WSBTV reported, and the mega store decided to allow Philips to begin using the phrase again.
In an attempt to explain its change of heart regarding its decision toward Philips, Walmart published a statement: “We greatly value our associates and appreciate his work of the company. He is welcome to continue sharing his greeting with our customers.”
Philips supporter, Crystal Ayres, tells WSBTV, “I’m glad they made the right decision to support James and his well wishes for our community.”
Michael, Philips’ son, says his dad believes in what he is saying. Philips claims customers say they are put in a better mood when they hear him speak the words ‘have a blessed day.’ But Philips doesn’t claim responsibility. He tells WSBTV, “that’s God working, not me.”
With halloween coming around, did you guys know what a teal pumpkin signifies? Trick-or-treating has long been a part of the Halloween festivities, but in recent years it’s gotten more complicated for kids with food allergies, since most candy is off limits.
FARE’s Teal Pumpkin Project is an effort to make sure all children will come home on Halloween night with something they can enjoy. The project implements one simple act: offering non-food treats, such as glow sticks or small toys, as an alternative to candy.
In 2015, households from all 50 states and 14 countries participated. The Teal Pumpkin Project is a worldwide movement to create a safer, happier Halloween for all trick-or-treaters.
According to Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), approximately 15 million Americans suffer from food allergies. Food allergies affects 1 in every 13 children (under 18 years of age) in the U.S. That’s roughly two in every classroom. Between 1997 and 2011, there was a 50% increase in food allergies.
Every 3 minutes, a food allergy reaction sends someone to the emergency department – that’s roughly more than 200,000 emergency department visits per year…
Video footage of a McDonald’s costumer being fat-shamed by a group of girls while waiting in line has gone viral (video below).
The video shows a man being cruelly bullied for his weight by two girls as he waits in line to order. The bullies call him “disgusting” and say “fat people” should not be at fast food restaurants like McDonald’s.
The two men in front of the victim look shocked by the altercation as the girls tell him to “stop eating” and “jog on” because he’s “so fat already.”
A bystander asks one of the girls “What is your problem?” but she retorts back that she is “just trying to help him.”
“What, you think he should just carry on eating McDonald’s? He’s fat, he should leave,” the bully says before telling the man he should “order a f*****g salad.” The confrontation becomes so heated that another customer steps in to defend the man, shouting, “I’ve got a belly as well, watch” as he lifts up his shirt to reveal his torso.
“You can’t treat him like that, how dare you,” he says before pouring his drink over the girl’s head, as other customers cheer him on.
The clip has received mixed reviews, having been viewed over 394,000 times on YouTube, with over 69,000 reactions from Facebook users, according to The Sun.
“Good on the bloke standing up for a stranger,” wrote one user.
Marlene Goetzeler got a request from a customer to make a special cake. It was a doll-shaped buttermilk cake where Ken, Barbie’s usual beau, is wearing a pink dress and tiara. Goetzeler didn’t see the big deal, so she made the cake as requested. The bakery she co-owns, Freeport Bakery, typically puts up photos of their elaborate creations on their Facebook page.
However, when Goetzeler posted this photo, she got a firestorm of negativity, and she couldn’t understand why.
“I actually naively just thought it was a really great cake,” Goetzeler told Fox 40. “Now that I see that there’s blowback. It makes me even stand firmer in being able to support people.”
Goetzeler wasn’t trying to make a political statement, she was just trying to please a loyal customer, which is her job as a custom baker.
The fact of the matter is some little boys are more interested in playing with Barbies than Superman action figures, and some little girls are more interested in playing with Iron Man toys than Disney princesses. What’s the big deal?
Many customers began to leave negative comments, “unlike” their page, and say they won’t make purchases there. Fortunately many commenters came to side with Goetzeler and the bakery.
“I don’t get it. What the hell is wrong with this cake that has so many of you pissed off? It’s not your cake. You didn’t pay for it,” one person said.
“I think this cake is fabulous! The ones who have a problem with it wouldn’t be good customers anyway!!” wrote another.
What do you think? Does this cake cross the line? Let us know in the comments.

Digging into a big bowl of salad is not only good for you — it makes you feel good as well!
In addition to being filled with other foods your body needs to stay healthy, it’s a primary meal for people who have chosen not to eat meat products — unless it’s something covered in crispy bacon, like this bacon potato salad!
Since veggies aren’t conscious of whether they’re being eaten or not there’s nothing to feel bad about — right?
Well, apparently, several scientists at the University of Missouri have found evidence that suggests plants can actually feel when they are being eaten. In fact, the evidence suggests vegetables can actually hear it.
How is this possible you ask? It all has to do with the ecological vibrations that plants can feel and respond to.
Check out the details of their fascinating research below — you will never look at a head of lettuce the same again!
Listen up, veggie lovers! New evidence has surfaced that will make you look at your bowl of salad a little more sympathetically.
Though we may think that vegetables have no idea when we are chowing down on them, researchers at theUniversity of Missouri (MU) may have turned that theory on its head.
They found that plants can identify different noises — including the sounds of them being chomped on — and try to defend themselves accordingly.
A Mobile, Alabama, mother was shocked and outraged after her mentally ill son received a receipt from Wendy’s that referred to him as “Lil Ugly Dude.”
The mother, Teeneshia Brown, said her son, 15-year-old Quenterus, went to Wendy’s and noticed that the employees were laughing at him but couldn’t understand why. What happened next prompted a since-deleted Facebook post that went viral.
“I took my son to Wendy’s to get something to eat last night. He went inside to place his order, instead of the cashier being courtesy and ask my son what’s his name to put on his ticket she took it upon herself to put on the bottom of his receipt Lil Ugly Dude,” she wrote, Fox 8 reported.
“This is unacceptable and unprofessional. My child was so embarrassed and upset he said the whole store was laughing at him including the manager. I play about alot of things but my kids isn’t one. My ghetto side was telling me to go back up there and let them have it. But I rather do it the right way.”
Brown said she was “embarrassed” by the incident and that it made her cry.
Wendy’s management director Ed Sheffield subsequently released a statement after the incident went viral.
“Wendy’s has been a part of this community for many years, and we were certainly disappointed to learn that one of our employees treated a guest in such a rude manner,” Sheffield’s statement read.
It seems common for us to be prescribed ibuprofen for nearly every symptom we have. Headaches, toothaches, back pain. Doctors are set on directing their patients to take pill after pill and the pain never permanently goes away. We find ourselves waking up with that same headache or that same neck pain, morning after morning. It’s like a revolving door of hurt and frustration. But what a lot of us don’t know is that it could be damaging your health. Ibuprofen doesn’t cure the pain and in the long run it is toxic to the heart muscle. In fact, so much so that over an extended period of time it may even cause death. The thought is terrifying but the reality is that there is another option that is safeguarded from this scary possibility.
A safer and more natural way to relieve the pain is by using turmeric, which is a plant that is native to southern Asia and has the healing powers of both hidden and pronounced pain. The plant has been issued to patients for thousands of years in Asia and is a major part of Asian medicine.
Originally in plant form, the powder is loaded with powerful polyphenols and the spice form of turmeric is known to assist in over 600 advantages.
You can purchase the powerful ingredient in powder form at most grocery stores and natural food establishments. While the flavor of the brown powder is somewhat spicy and earthy tasting, it can be blended and mixed with a variety of different recipes.
A simple recipe that will do wonders to your body, and not break the bank is listed below:
Mix one tablespoon of turmeric powder, one cup of honey and the juice of one squeezed lemon in a glass
Stir the combination using a wooden spoon
Add a teaspoon of this mixture to a cup of warm water or tea
Enjoy the pain-relieving cocktail three times a day and you will see results in no time
An Indiana mother was shocked and outraged after her son sent her a photo showing the sandwich he was given at school because he forgot his lunch money.
Amy Wittaker Anders shared a post on Facebook explaining that her son had forgotten his lunch money at school one day. She says that when he told school staff that he didn’t have his lunch money, he was given a peanut butter sandwich, which he soon discovered was covered in mold.
She shared a photo of the moldy sandwich with her post.
Anders says her son found mold on both the outside and inside of his sandwich, according to WISH. When he informed staff members, he was given a replacement sandwich, but was too afraid to eat it.
“I have no idea how someone could not see this was bad when handing it out,” Anders wrote in her Facebook post.
Anders’ son told his mother that the same thing happened to a friend of his two weeks prior to his incident.
The Avon Community School Corporation released a statement in response to the incident after Anders’ post spread on Facebook.
“We are grateful to be made aware of the situation and have reached out to the parents and apologized,” the school’s statement read. “This is an unacceptable human error and we are looking into it to ensure that this never happens again.”
The story comes following a similar story in which students in a Maryland school shared photos on social media showing the shocking meals they were being fed for lunch.
Some foods were covered in mold, while others were undercooked or expired.
“You’re giving us something that’s not healthy, that can possibly cause us to die and it’s just unacceptable,” a student of the high school told Fox 5.
Students in a Durham, Ontario, school district are being told they cannot eat parts of their home-packed lunches because they are “unhealthy.”
According to The Star, the Durham School District’s new healthy eating initiative has parents infuriated after teachers and officials have refused to let students eat specific parts of the lunches packed by their parents.
Elaina Daoust, a mother of two district students, says she became “infuriated” last year when her son was told he could not eat his morning snack, a small piece of banana bread, because it contained chocolate chips. He was told that he would instead have to eat the grapes from his lunch.
“He came home with a chart (listing healthy snack ideas) and told me he and the teacher talked about it and healthy choices. She also sent a note to me. I was really, really, really mad for several reasons,” Daoust told The Star.
The mother explained that her son is very picky eater and that she chose the packaged banana bread because teachers discourage home-baked treats due to allergy concerns. The snack was labeled as being nut-free.
Douse says her son’s new school, where he started this year, has given her no issues so far.
Healthy eating and nutrition has become a major part of Ontario’s health and physical education curriculum in recent years.
Officials with the Durham Catholic District School Board say that there is a difference between teaching children to eat healthy and critiquing what a child brings to school.
Toothpicks aren’t just for keeping food out of your teeth!
These cool tricks show you how toothpicks can be used in your kitchen to make tasty treats or even give little legs to a potato spud.
This adorable fruit topiary makes a great centerpiece for a baby shower, birthdays, afternoon “high tea” or for any get together with friends!
Keep Produce Fresh
Keep cucumbers and lemons fresh longer by “capping” them with the ends that you would normally toss in the trash.
While this looks kind of cute, you might wonder what is the point of making a little stand for your spud. Well, the real secret is not in how it looks, but how it functions. By creating some space underneath the potato, it will cook evenly in the microwave!
Cold sticks of butter never soften quickly enough when you want a piece of buttered toast! You can use the toothpick tripod method to soften a pat of butter without completely melting it.
Make Pancake Hors d’Oeuvres
Make mini pancake appetizers for the kids during Sunday brunch!
What an easy twist on a classic favorite! She was craving apple pie but had a limited time-frame, so she made up this scrumptious dessert that is equally delicious. It’s a modern twist on the classic apple pie. But the goodness doesn’t stop there because it is finger-food friendly, which means it is also family-friendly, and altogether mess-free.
With only a few ingredients, she makes her amazing apple pie fries. The process is simple as she pulses one can of apple pie filling, and then spreads it over a ready-made Pillsbury pie crust.
With a typical pie, she would practically still be getting out all of her ingredients, but this time-saving dessert takes only 25-30 minutes from start to finish. So, she’s already almost done now that she completed her pie crust and filling.
All that is left is the fun part. She takes out her pizza cutter and begins slicing her fries. There is no right or wrong way to do this, so whether they are thick or thin is completely by preference. She cuts hers into long pieces one way, and spins it around making four sections the other way.
She already has prepared a pan with wax paper so that they don’t stick, and places each little section carefully on the pan. She sprinkles a topping made up of 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 tsp of cinnamon, and 1/4 tsp of nutmeg.
Once they are baked for 15 to 20 minutes, they are finished and ready to be enjoyed. They may not look like an apple pie, but these sneaky little fries smell and taste just like it.
As 8-year-old, Cayden Taipalus, waited in the school lunch line, he witnessed something quite sad. One of his classmates was denied a hot meal simply because he didn’t have enough money on his lunch account.
While most kids would just shrug of the sad moment, Cayden immediately took action. With the help of his mother, Amber Melke-Peters, he launched a webpage that raises money for children who can’t afford lunch.
..The website, “Pay It Forward: No Kids Goes Hungry.”, has raised over $7000 dollars so far and provided students with over 300 lunches.
His kind gesture has warmed the hearts of people all across the United States. With all the bad things we see on the news, Cayden reminds of us all the good that is in the world.
Many people know that slow cookers can be used to make delicious dinners, but it’s not common knowledge that these wonderful devices can make desserts, too. There’s no need to dirty up every dish, bowl, and mixer in your kitchen to get a tasty dessert, simply pour all the ingredients in a slow cooker and let it cook!
The slow cooking blog The Magical Slow Cooker has shared an amazing recipe for white chocolate cherry dump cake, and it’s sure to get your mouth watering! This recipe is beyond simple — no stirring or baking required! Let the slow cooker do all the work. The hardest part is waiting for it to be done!
To make the dump cake, simply line the bottom of the slow cooker with a large can of cherry pie filling and add some cooking oil, a stick of melted butter, and an entire box of yellow cake mix. Top with some white chocolate morsels (or chocolate chips) and set on high for 3 hours.
Now comes the difficult part: waiting! Find something to distract you for a few hours, and try not to let the delicious smell of the slow cooker tempt you into eating the dump cake early. Once it’s ready, just scoop out a serving and enjoy!
Here’s a tip: You can make this recipe with any type of fruit pie filling, so feel free to experiment with whatever you like best!
Austin Simms of Roanoke, VA, thought some of his customers could use a little help with their manners. The CUPS Coffee & Tea worker put up a sign indicating that the more impolite you are the more you’re going to have to pay.
The sandwich board reads:
“One small coffee”
“One small coffee, please”
“Hello, I’d like one small coffee please.”
Each phrase indicates what a customer should say to receive the most inexpensive price. The less rude the better. Sometimes we’re so busy when we order our morning cup of joe — or barely awake — we forget that the person serving us is in fact another human being.
There’s no need for being short with someone during a transaction and the sign is a firm reminder of that.
“I decided because I need to solve all the injustices of the world to start charging more for people who didn’t take the time to say hello and connect and realize we’re all people behind the counter,” Simms said.
He wrote the sign one day and by the very next day a photo of it appeared in a newspaper in England, then went viral on the internet, and eventually a swarm of news cameras showed up at the store.
One thing is for sure, at CUPS, there will definitely be service with a smile.

A Texas nurse is outraged after finding a rude note attached to his pizza order from Domino’s.
The nurse, who has not been named, ordered a pizza from Domino’s a few minutes before the store closed at midnight, CBS 11 reported April 1. He was working the night shift at Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, Texas, at the time.
When the pizza arrived, the nurse found a handwritten note attached to it that read: “Thanks! We would appreciate it VERY much if you didn’t wait until 5 minutes before we close.”
“It was the rudest thing I’ve ever seen,” Kerry Miller, a friend of the nurse, told CBS 11.
“I don’t care if they called one minute ’til, the business is still open,” Miller continued. “Service your customers.”
Miller, who posted a picture of the insensitive note on social media, said that nurses had to work to save lives every day no matter the time.
“How would you feel if you wrote something like that and then the next day you were laying there?” he said.
Although none of the employees at the Domino’s Pizza store in Paris were willing to comment to CBS 11, TIm Mcintyre, a company spokesperson, sent a statement.
“We do not condone or encourage this kind of behavior or one-sided ‘[dialog]’ with customers.”
Miller said he is not satisfied with the pizza chain’s response.
An Oklahoma mother says that her son should not have to go hungry just because he forgot his lunch money.
The mother, who chose to remain anonymous, told KRMG that her son, who attends one of Tulsa’s Public Schools, couldn’t eat lunch because he owed $3. The school reportedly took the boy’s tray and threw away his food. The mom said that the situation should have been handled differently.
“Let him know that he owes money, send a note home or something, but I don’t think a child should be told no, they can’t eat,” the mother told the news station. “I don’t think that if he forgets his money one day, it should just be ‘no, you can’t eat.’”
According to Chris Payne, a spokesperson for Tulsa Public Schools, the district policy is that high school students can’t charge for a meal. Payne told KRMG that in the real world, McDonald’s won’t serve you without money.
Although the district allows elementary and middle school students to charge for lunches, Payne argued that the high school rule on charging is strict. While some schools allow students to work in the cafeteria for their meals, Oklahoma’s strict food handling laws don’t allow that option.
“We really do want their emphasis to be on learning,” Payne added.
An Oklahoma teen and her family are outraged about the “Munchable” meal students in Chickasha are fed every Monday, which only includes loose pieces of lunch meat, two crackers, one slice of cheese and two pieces of cauliflower.
“It makes me want to take that to the superintendent and tell him to eat it for lunch,” Chickasha High School student Kaytlin Shelton told OKC Fox.
“I can go pay a dollar for a Lunchable and get more food in it,” said Kaytlin’s father, Vince Holton. “Schools are responsible for children while they’re at school, they’re responsible for feeding the children.”
In addition to the food that Shelton had in her own lunch, milk, beans and pears are also available to eat on “Munchable” Mondays.
However, School Superintendent David Cash stated: “You’ve got in some cases little kids that their only two meals are breakfast and lunch at school and they’re getting you know a grand total of 1100 calories. That’s not enough.”
“These regulations were put into effect two years ago, and we’re still struggling with them,” Asst. State Superintendent for Child Nutrition, Joanie Hildenbrand, said.
Administrators think that as a result of federal regulations limiting calorie and fat intake, kids are going through the day hungry.
“I know they are,” Cash said. “There is no doubt about that. My own kid comes home, and the first thing he does is raid the refrigerator.”
The school is reportedly now looking into whether the Munchable is a sufficient food option for growing kids.
A restaurant made a fatal mistake. Now, one Minnesota family is seeking justice and warning others. When 16-year-old Scott Johnson ordered pancakes, he was told they met his strict dietary restrictions.
Scott was severely allergic to dairy. The pancakes he ordered were said to be dairy-free, but soon after he ate them, he died.
“Every time I would pick something up, when I was shopping with my parents, I’d look at the label and be like, ‘Can Scott have this?’” said Scott’s sister, Jaris Johnson.
For Scott, even small traces of dairy could send him to the emergency room. Restaurant outings were rare, but the family was sure to make his allergy clear to staff. At this particular restaurant, the staff all knew the Johnson family.
The teen’s mom Cindy confirmed with the waitress, who then confirmed with the cook, that the pancakes were dairy-free.
The waitress told them that the cook would clean the grill to especially make the pancakes. There was no reason for the Johnsons to believe otherwise. Scott ate the pancakes.
“He had just finished, and he said ‘We have to go now.’” Cindy said.
Scott used his EpiPen at home, but the allergy medication wasn’t working. The frightened mother called 911. Scott was airlifted to a hospital, but after suffering a severe anaphylactic reaction, the boy died three days later.
Police officers and other members of law enforcement have had it rough over the last few years. They’ve been the target of heinous attacks, been thought of as crooked and corrupt and have gone on trial for things normal citizens could never imagine.
But one restaurant in Gallipolis, Ohio is working to make sure that the men and women in uniform understand that they’re valued and cared for. So the owner of the restaurant hung a sign in the front window – and it’s raising some eyebrows!
The sign states, “All uniformed police officers eat free everyday.” This is to prove to them that they have the city’s respect and that all of their hard work and dedication is definitely appreciated.
A free warm meal is the perfect way to recharge their body’s and mind’s, which in turn, will keep the streets of Gallipolis even safer!
The image of the sign hung at this KFC has since gone viral, receiving nearly over 6,000 shares and 10,000 likes on Facebook.
Even the store’s employees have commented on the post, saying that this is true and they really do serve police officers for free every single day of the year!
This has created quite a stir in their neighborhood. Not everyone is as thrilled as they should be about the sign, though.
Many people criticized the store owners, saying that not just police officers, but all first responders should be given this privilege. To silence the critics, the administer of the Ohio Going Blue Facebook page (who is an officer of the law) commented that he couldn’t agree more.
“This is a positive post, but some of you can’t see the bigger picture.
As an officer, I do not go into any establishment expecting [or] wanting anything to be free or…. even a discount, whether I’m in uniform or not, and I can tell you other officers feel the same way.
We don’t like ‘special treatment.’ The fact is that KFC is acknowledging law enforcement, which is why this was posted.
To those who stated that other first responders should also be acknowledged.
My answer? ABSOLUTELY.”
Police officers dedicate their lives to keeping us safe, while asking nothing of the citizen in return. The least we can do is provide them with a meal to fill their bellies during their long, hard shifts! What do you think?
In a Facebook post by Love What Matters, a mom blogger for This Gutsy Life shares a powerful story about an act of kindness by a stranger that left her overwhelmed with gratitude.
It all started with an intense hunt for a bottle of milk on a hot summer day…
To the usher at the Cardinals game who spent two innings finding my son a bottle of milk:
When I asked you if you knew where I could find milk for my son, at Busch Stadium on a sweltering summer evening, I expected you to tell me I was out of luck, or at best offer a vague suggestion.
Instead, you took us several sections over into the Redbird Club even though our tickets didn’t grant us access, because you knew it housed a bakery – but they were out of milk. Instead of giving up, you took us three levels down to a store on the main concourse, where we once again struck out – which you know, because you stayed and helped us look. So you led us halfway around the stadium to a donut stand, where we at last found what we were looking for.
While I paid for it you grabbed us the straw my son was asking for, along with some napkins for good measure. And then you went back with us, halfway around the stadium and up three levels and back through the Redbird Club and over several sections, to make sure we didn’t get lost on our way back, because we’d had to travel so very far to find that bottle of milk. It took two innings, but you made sure my son was happy.
You did all this not knowing why that milk was important to us. You may have thought my son was spoiled, or that I was a pushover unwilling to say no to her three year old. If you thought that, you didn’t show it. You were wonderful.
In 2015, a preschooler in Aurora, CO, came home from school with a big frown on her face, along with her uneaten Oreo cookies. The 4-year-old, Natalee, then handed her mother a note from her teacher on behalf of the school.
The note read:
Dear Parents, it is very important that all students have a nutritious lunch. This is a public school setting and all children are required to have a fruit, a vegetable and a heavy snack from home, along with a milk. If they have potatoes, the child will also need bread to go along with it. Lunchables, chips, fruit snacks, and peanut butter are not considered to be a healthy snack. This is a very important part of our program and we need everyone’s participation.
Natalee’s mom, Leeza, was shocked. Not only is Natalee active and healthy, but she also said her lunch included a sandwich and cheese — and that the school took things way too far.
A spokeswoman for the school said the teachers gave Natalee a healthy alternative to the cookies, but Leeza says, “It’s between me and the doctor on what’s healthy for her.”
Leeza said she was “lunch-shamed” by Natalee’s school, and many other parents agree with her. One commenter on Facebook says: “The school is responsible for what THEY serve, which we pay for by the way, but not what my child brings from home unless of course they are paying for my groceries!”

Nothing is as refreshing as the sweet, juicy taste of a watermelon on a summer day. However, a watermelon can only be as good as the one you choose from the market. You may think that choosing a great watermelon is up to chance, but there are actually several ways to spot the perfect watermelon.
1. Field Spot
When viewing watermelons, the first thing that sticks out are those weird white spots. However, these spots (called field spots)are quite natural. The field spot is the area where the watermelon rested on the ground. While every watermelon has a field spot, the best watermelons have creamy-yellow or even orange-yellow spots. Go for the gold.
The webbing of a watermelon indicates the amount of times that bees touched the flower. The more pollination, the sweeter the watermelon is.
3. Boy or Girl?
You may have not known this, but watermelons have genders. The ‘boy’ watermelons, are taller and more elongated, while the “girl” watermelons are more round and stout. The boy watermelons are more watery, while the girl watermelons are sweeter.
Our common sense tells us that bigger is better. So we may think that we should get our money’s worth and get the biggest watermelon we can haul onto our carts, but in reality, the best watermelons are average-sized. Don’t go for too small or too big, but just right. Size matters.
The tail of a watermelon indicates its ripeness. A green tail indicates that it was picked too soon and will not taste as good. Go for the watermelons that have dried tails for the best taste.

You can’t judge a book by its cover, but you can judge a watermelon by its shell.
Here at Slow Cooker Kitchen, we love spending finding ways to spend less time in the kitchen and more time with family and friends – without sacrificing a homemade dinner. That’s why we can’t get enough of the freezer bag trend. Perfectly designed for the busy household, these meals take minimal prep and deliver maximum flavor. We pay a lot for our food so it only makes sense to find ways of properly storing it to reduce any spoilage. With so many bulk food grocery stores, many of us buy huge quantities of certain foods and using these food storage tips will help maximize their shelf life.
Fresh food is so much healthier than processed food but there is no reason to buy limited quantities. Making several trips to the grocery store every week to purchase fresh produce or basics like bread, eggs, milk, or butter isn’t necessary if we understand how to store food properly.
1) Buy an ethylene gas absorbed for your refrigerator.
Fruits and vegetables give out ethylene gas and this gas is what shortens their shelf life. Using Bluapple Ethylene Gas Absorbers available from Amazon will help absorb ethylene gas and keep them fresher longer. Also, If you store fruits and vegetables in the plastic bags they came in, make sure to poke a few holes or open the bag slightly to let gas escape.
2) Wrap banana stems with plastic wrap.
Most of the ethylene gas mentioned in #1 escapes from the stems of fruits and vegetables. In the case of bananas, wrapping each stem with plastic wrap could extend their freshness for 3-4 days longer. Here are more food storage details for keeping your bananas fresh.
3) Soak your berries in water and vinegar to make them last longer.
You’ll want to use 3 cups of water and 1 cup of vinegar (3 parts water to 1 part vinegar) and soak them for 5 minutes. Here are more food storage tips for keeping your berries fresh.
4) Wrap celery in tin foil.
You can wrap celery, broccoli, and even lettuce in foil and they’ll stay fresh and crisp for up to 4 weeks. Here is how to respect the celery and keep it fresh.

Have trouble getting a good night’s rest? We all do at times. With the stressors in our modern environment, it can become difficult to fall asleep, stay asleep and wake up feeling rested. Stress and electromagnetic frequencies from cell phones, computers, and other electronics play a role. Bright lights and so many other factors can effect our nervous system and sleep hormones, which ultimately influence our quality of sleep.
Many different factors, both external and internal, can influence your brain, hormones and nervous system which can offset your sleep or deprive us of quality sleep.
The easiest thing to do is to grab a sleeping pill, but is that a good solution? It may work short-term, but in the long term, you are hindering your body’s health and natural abilities.
Sleeping pills have known side effects such as dizziness, constipation, stomach pain, difficulty focusing, memory problems and harm to the central nervous system.
Sleep is extremely important, and there’s no arguing that. When you are deprived of sleep, you lose out on what your body can do to function optimally. Your cognitive thinking skills are impaired, your motor skills decline, your energy drops, and you’re at even more risk for diseases and health conditions such as obesity, diabetes and cancer.
Step 2: Put banana into bowling water.
You need a full night’s sleep. You’ll feel better, function better and prevent disease by getting, at least, eight hours of sleep each night. You do not want the side effects that sleeping pills offer, so what can you do? Enter banana cinnamon tea.
Bananas are rich in potassium and magnesium, but what most people do not know is that the banana peel has, even more, potassium and magnesium than the banana itself, and it is often thrown away as trash. Not anymore!
With this simple recipe, you can get the benefits of the potassium and magnesium in the banana peel. Potassium and magnesium are beneficial for the nervous system and are great for relaxing the muscles. In fact, magnesium is the most important mineral for muscle relaxation and can reduce muscle cramps along with other aches and pains.
When you are stressed, guess which mineral is depleted from the body first? You guessed it! Magnesium. You need magnesium to cope with stress, allowing you to relax and fall asleep.
Cinnamon is great because it is one of the best ways to balance blood sugar levels. When blood sugar levels are balanced, your hormones can function in a way that allows for better sleep. If your blood sugar levels are off, then you may have energy at night, or be tired during the day.
Utilizing the therapeutic value of the banana, the banana peel and cinnamon is a great approach to kicking insomnia and other sleep disorders to the curb — for good.
Here’s the recipe:
Step 3: Add more cinnamon.
1 organic banana (with peel)
1 small pot of water
A sprinkle of cinnamon (if you’d like)
Step 1: Simply cut off both ends of the banana (top and bottom) as shown below.
Step 2: Put the banana into a pot of bowling water. If the water is spring water or purified in some way, even better!
Boil for about 10 minutes. Sprinkle some cinnamon into the water as well. If you’d like to add some stevia for sweetening, do so. Stevia helps to balance blood sugar levels, and will not spike blood sugar levels before bed.
Step 3: Add more cinnamon if desired and enjoy!
As another option, you can also peel and eat a boiled banana with cinnamon sprinkled on it the next day if you’d like! (I’d recommend the next day because you do not want to put food in your gut to digest right before bedtime).
Here are the top 5 popular children’s snacks made with petroleum-based ingredients:
The most popular flavor of Pop Tarts, Frosted Strawberry, includes ingredients such as corn syrup, dextrose, sugar and high fructose corn syrup, all of which have been linked to sugar addiction, diabetes and liver problems in children.
These toaster pastries also include TBHQ, a petroleum-based product that causes cellular dysfunction. In laboratory animals, it’s been linked to tumors, loss of vision, liver enlargement, convulsions, and paralysis.
The artificial coloring in this snack is made from Yellow 6, which is derived from petroleum, as is the “cheese” flavoring, which includes methyl benzoate and ethyl methylphenidate.
The food color most often used in these “fruit” flavored snacks is Red 3 or erythrosine, a petroleum product which has been banned for use in cosmetics due to its connection with thyroid tumors.
It is unsafe to use on your skin, but eating it is no problem? Avoid the gummy section!
These popular candies contain a lot more than chocolate, including Blue 1, which can trigger the development of malignant tumors, Blue 2, which can increase hyperactivity and has been linked to brain tumors, Red 40 which can damage DNA, and Yellow 5 and 6 which have been linked to cancer.
These tiny bears are laced with TBHQ, which has also been shown to cause stomach cancer in lab rats, fragment DNA and cause damage to the human lung and umbilical cells. In children, it can cause anxiety, restlessness, and intensify the symptoms of ADHD.
The continued use of these artificial dyes in food, especially in children’s snacks, poses unnecessary and dangerous health risks that can be avoided by being health conscious and keeping an eye out for artificial coloring in your food. We all love drinking Coca-cola and other soda. I mean it’s fizzy, full of flavour and quenches our thirst on a hot day. There is nothing better than opening a cold can of soda and glugging straight from the can when you are desperate for a drink…I bet I’ve made you thirsty now, haven’t I?
But did you know that DIET soda can actually have a lot of health benefits. Alongside cutting calories, which we all know already, diet soda can actually prevent some pretty serious stuff from happening to your body. Regular Coca-Cola is absolutely PACKED with sugar…do you want to see how much is in it?
That’s 10 spoons of sugar in a can. I was pretty shocked looking at this, it just makes you think about how much junk we put into our bodies without even realising! But that’s where diet soda comes in… there is absolutely NO sugar in diet soda.
Here are some of the effects that consuming too much sugar has on your health:
It overloads and damages your liver. The effects of too much sugar or fructose can be likened to the effects of alcohol. All the fructose you eat gets shuttled to the only organ that has the transporter for it: your liver. This severely taxes and overloads the organ, leading to potential liver damage.
It tricks your body into gaining weight and affects your insulin and leptin signaling. Fructose fools your metabolism by turning off your body’s appetite-control system. It fails to stimulate insulin, which in turn fails to suppress ghrelin, or “the hunger hormone,” which then fails to stimulate leptin or “the satiety hormone.” This causes you to eat more and develop insulin resistance.
It causes metabolic dysfunction. Eating too much sugar causes a barrage of symptoms known as classic metabolic syndrome. These include weight gain, abdominal obesity, decreased HDL and increased LDL, elevated blood sugar, elevated triglycerides, and high blood pressure.
It increases your uric acid levels. High uric acid levels are a risk factor for heart and kidney disease. In fact, the connection between fructose, metabolic syndrome, and your uric acid is now so clear that your uric acid level can now be used as a marker for fructose toxicity.
So simply by swapping to diet soda, you are actually saving yourself from a lot of serious health issues. It may not be as great as drinking water, but it certainly is a LOT better than drinking regular soda.
I’d have a think before I pick up the red can in the store after looking into this…
Because she drinks 20 Red Bull energy drinks per day on average, a British woman has wound up in the hospital with a severely damaged liver.
Mary Allwood, 26, from Brixtham, England was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance this past November because she experience debilitating pain in the side of her body. When she finally reached the emergency room, medical staff discovered that her liver had grown to twice its normal size. And this was extremely bad news…
After seeing her liver, doctors assumed she was a severe alcoholic who drank more booze than water. But then Allwood said she never touches the stuff. Perplexed, doctors had no other explanation. Until Allwood admitted she drinks at least 20 cans of Red Bull every day.
“I needed it and I didn’t care at the time what damage it was doing to me,” Allwood explained. “If I didn’t get my fix I would be miserable and grumpy and it just wasn’t an option – I would make sure I got it.”
Allwood admits she was an addict.
“At first I would feel as if it would give me a buzz and energy, but eventually it wouldn’t give me energy – I just needed it,” she said. “I needed the taste and fizziness. It was my heroin. I would feel awful if I didn’t have it.”
Medical research shows that the high sugar content of Red Bull leads to fat being deposited in the liver. This causes scarring and eventually cirrhosis (liver damage).
Allwood is a full-time mother who became addicted to the energy drink just 4-months after trying Red Bull for the first time.
“I would go to the supermarket and get ten multi-packs at a time,” she stated. “I’d tell the person at the till that I had a restaurant and I was buying them for that reason.”
The addiction caused Allwood to gain a lot of weight. Red Bull caused her dress size to balloon from 16 to 24. But she couldn’t quit the sugary, caffeinated drink. When the doctors and nurses looked at Allwood in disgust, she was finally shamed into quitting.
“They looked at me in disgust,” Allwood recalls.
Now she refuses to have energy drinks since they almost ruined her life and killed her.
“I think the rules should be changed and it should be treated in a similar way to cigarettes, with the blank packaging,” Allwood claims.
Doctors have found that just one can of soda or energy drink per day increases your chance of getting diabetes by 1.1 percent.

Epsom salt is a natural mineral that was first discovered in Epsom, England. People typically use Epsom salt in the bathroom to relieve aches and pains or internally as a laxative, but it is also a garden additive that expert gardeners swear by. It can help you produce lush, healthy plants, flowers and trees. Epsom salt, also known as magnesium sulfate, works well in the home garden because it gives fertilizer and soil a much needed boost of both magnesium and sulfate, according to SeaSalt. The additional minerals enable plants to receive more nutrition from the soil they are in. This in turn increases the plant’s output.
1. Produce abundant nightshades: Many people enjoy growing plants from the nightshade family such as peppers tomatoes, eggplants and potatoes. All nightshades need a lot of magnesium, so that they produce greater yields. Epsom salt also helps improve the flavor of nightshades. To ensure the nightshades you grow in your home garden are abundant and tasty, Natural Living Ideas recommends adding 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of Epsom salt to your peppers and tomatoes by sprinkling it around the base of the plant. If you want the salt to dissolve more quickly, add it to a gallon (3.8 liters) of water and water the plants with the mixture. You should continue to add the Epsom salt to your plants every two weeks.
2. Nix garden pests: Garden pests are the worst. You spend a significant amount of time planting something that you enjoy, and the next thing you know, it’s ruined. Luckily, Epsom salt can help with this problem. Epsom salt won’t make snails and slugs wither away like table salt, but it does irritate them. According to Natural Living Ideas, Epsom salt works much like diatomaceous earth to keep unwanted pests at bay. The only caveat about using Epsom salt to deter pests is that it is water soluble, so you will need to continuously reapply it.
3. Make fruit sweeter: Epsom salt, when added to trees, bushes and vines that produce fruit, boosts the chlorophyll inside the plant. When plants have more chlorophyll, they have more energy, Natural Living Ideas reports. When they have more energy, they produce more sugar. More sugar means sweeter fruit for you to enjoy.
4. Stop transplant shock: When you start plants indoors for outdoor planting later on or move established potted plants to larger pots, sometimes the plants will get shocked and start to die on you. This phenomenon is known as transplant shock and happens because the plants’ roots were likely damaged during the transportation process. Epsom salt, according to Balcony Web, can help plants overcome transplant shock. If your plants are experiencing transplant shock, feed Epsom salt to them either by sprinkling on the topsoil near the base of the plant and then watering or putting a little salt into the hole or planter you will be planting your plant. Next, cover the salt with a little dirt before planting your plant on top.
5. Keep leaves green: When plants don’t get their recommended daily amount of magnesium, their leaves start turning yellow. To remedy this common occurrence, feed your plants Epsom salt, says Best Plants. Natural Living Ideas recommends feeding your plants 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of the mineral per 12 inches (30 cm) of height one time a month.
6. Annihilate pesky weeds: Only masochists like weeding their gardens. To cut down on weeding time, incorporate Epsom salt into your garden maintenance schedule. You can kill weeds by mixing a couple of cups of the mineral with a gallon (3.8 liters) of vinegar and some liquid dish detergent, according to Natural Living Ideas. Put the mixture in a spray bottle and go to town on any weeds you see. In no time at all, the weeds will die. Be careful not to spray any of this powerful stuff on plants you want to keep, or they will die.
7. Lush lawn fertilizer: If your lawn isn’t lush and beautiful, it probably needs a little magnesium in its life. To perk up grass, Best Plants suggests adding 3 pounds (1.35 kg) of Epsom salt to every 1,250 square feet (116 square meters) of grass and then watering your lawn.
8. Tree stump remover: Tree stump removal can be costly, but if you don’t have the money to get a stump removed, let Epsom salt come to your rescue. Best Plants recommends drilling holes into the stump and filling in the holes with Epsom salt. In weeks, the stump will begin rotting.
9. Beautiful blooming roses: Roses are beautiful, but they can be tricky to grow. Epsom salt makes it a little easier. According to Natural Living Ideas, adding Epsom salt to rose bushes encourages them to produce larger flowers with darker, deeper colors. To incorporate Epsom salt to your rose bush’s diet, add it at the time of planting and when flowers are in bloom.
10. Splinter removal power: Splinters are inevitable when you are gardening. Epsom salt can help with that. If you get a splinter when gardening, Best Plants says to soak the area that has the splinter in it in 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of Epsom salt and water. That should make the splinter pop out of your skin on its own.
11. “Frizzle top” fighter: In sunny areas where palm trees thrive, one of the most common things to see is palm trees that are yellow at the top. This look, which Best Plants likens to a bad hair day, is called “frizzle top” and due to a lack of magnesium. You can restore your palm trees to health by spraying the crown and base with Epsom salt and water.
12. Cure leaf curling: Leaf curling is a sure sign of a lack of magnesium in a plant. If the leaves on your plant are curled, amend the plant’s soil with 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of Epsom salt.
13. Perky potted plants: According to Balcony Garden Web, plants in containers go magnesium-deficient faster than in-the-ground plants. To remedy this issue, the site recommends adding 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of Epsom salt to the surrounding soil once a month.
14. Increase nutrient uptake: Epsom salt, when added to the soil around plants, helps them absorb other nutrients more efficiently. In fact, according to Best Plants, most commercial fertilizers have large amounts of magnesium. By adding plain Epsom salt, you won’t have to bother with so much fertilizer.
15. Fancy full ferns: When ferns are yellow and dull-looking, they don’t look great. Epsom salt helps ferns and plants similar to ferns, such as elephant ear, have rich, dark foliage. Add 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of Epsom salt to a gallon (3.8 liters) of water and spray ferns and elephant ears to achieve the look.
Epsom salt is incredibly useful in the home garden. In addition to helping plants get more from the surrounding soil, Epsom salt also enhances the flavor of fruits and veggies, keeps leaves green, stops transplant shock and deters pests. Who knew? Now you do!
Now that you know some of the ways you can use Epsom salt in your garden, how will YOU use it?
No waiter would like this little stunt to be pulled on them, let alone to witness it happen.
Kansas teenager, Garret Wayman, was busting a table after a long shift. He noticed a tip from a customer that seemed like a $20 bill. Unfortunately, when he picked it up, it was something completely out of the ordinary, in his mind, quite disgusted.
Under the ketchup bottle, the customers left the 17-year old waiter a religious pamphlet that recommended he seek “faith thru Jesus Christ”.
Wayman told Tech Insider, “I’m 17 years old, $7,000 in debt because I had to buy myself a car, juggling full-time school, and working 7 days a week.” He argued that he was fairly excited to see such a large tip since “getting a $20 tip at the restaurant I work at is very, very rare.”
When he opened up the pamphlet, it included a whole eight paragraphs on why the 17-year-old should buy a Bible and start practicing the Christian faith. It also includes a phrase, saying, “Don’t be fooled! There is something you can have more valuable than money.”
Servers have very low minimum wage, hovering around $2 per hour, and playing such antics can really ruin somebody’s day. Wayman certainly did not feel on top of the world when he encountered this stunt. Wayman decided to take his frustration to the internet.
After posting this on Twitter, Wayman received over 2,000 re-tweets and comments, most of which actually apologized for such a rude comment, and even offered to give him the $20 he deserved.
Acne is the most common skin condition in the United States. It can develop as a result of bacteria, clogged pores, dead skin cells and oil production, and there are many factors that can make it worse,
such as hormones, certain medications, diet and stress. Acne can be frustrating, embarrassing and difficult to treat, but without treatment, dark spots and permanent scars can appear on the skin.
There are tons of different acne treatments available, but many of them may end up breaking the bank, while others come along with unwanted side effects.
If only there were an inexpensive, natural treatment for acne… Good news, there is! Instead of throwing the peel away the next time you snack on a banana, you might want to keep it and use it as a natural acne-destroyer.
Here’s why banana peels work:
Banana peels contain vitamins A, B, C and E, all of which contribute to healthy skin.
Banana peels contain zinc, manganese and iron, which help calm inflamed skin.
Banana peels work as natural exfoliants to remove toxins from pores.
Banana peels are anti-septic, so they’re able to prevent bacterial infections that cause acne.
Banana peels are rich in antioxidants that fight the germs that cause acne.
Banana peels contain enzymes that hydrate skin, heal scars and prevent new acne from forming.
Banana peels contain starch that helps dry out the excess oil clogging pores.
Try one of these six banana peel methods to help clear up your acne and reveal more smooth, clear and radiant skin.
1. Banana Peel
Wash your skin with cool water and a milk cleanser, then pat dry with a clean towel.
Eat a banana then cut the peel into small pieces.
Massage skin with the inside of the banana peel for 10 minutes.
If a piece turns brown, discard it and start with a fresh piece.
Wait 20 minutes for skin to absorb nutrients.
Repeat the process 2-3 times a day.
2. Banana Peel with Oats
Oatmeal works great as a natural exfoliant for the skin!
In a blender, mix 1 banana peel with 1/2 cup of oatmeal and 3 tablespoons of sugar.
Blend until smooth and pasty.
Massage the paste onto the affected skin and leave on for 10 minutes.
Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
Apply oil-free moisturizer.
Repeat daily to get rid of acne.
3 Banana Peel Turmeric Scrub
Turmeric is a natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory that can reduce swelling and redness, while working to kill the germs that cause acne.
Mash a banana peel into a thick paste.
Mix equal parts mashed banana peel and turmeric powder.
Add water and stir until you create a fine paste.
Massage onto skin as a spot treatment and leave on for 15 minutes.
Rinse with lukewarm water then pat dry.
Apply oil-free moisturizer.
Repeat daily to clear acne.
4. Banana Peel and Lemon
The natural acidity of lemons helps to kill the bacteria that causes acne, while working as a natural bleaching agent to reduce the appearance of scars.
Mash a banana peel into a paste.
Mix equal parts banana peel paste and fresh-squeezed lemon juice.
Use a cotton ball to apply the paste onto the affected skin.
Massage gently and leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water and pat dry.
5. Banana Peel with Baking Powder
Baking powder helps to remove toxins from the pores.
Mash a banana peel until it forms a paste.
Mix 1 tablespoon of banana peel paste with 1/2 tablespoon of baking powder.
Add water until the mix turns into a fine paste.
Use a cotton ball to massage the paste onto the skin using circular motions.
Leave on for 2 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.
Apply oil-free moisturizer.
6. Banana Peel with Honey
Honey is an antibacterial and it naturally moisturizes skin.
Mash a banana peel into a paste.
Mix 1 tablespoon of banana peel paste with 1/2 tablespoon of raw honey.
Use a cotton ball to massage the paste onto the affected skin in circular motions.
Leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.

If you’re like me, you love making some eggs for breakfast every morning. Whether you’re a scrambled, over-easy, or poached eggs kind of person, you’re probably tossing your eggshells in the trash or the compost.
But did you know that egg shells are 90% pure calcium? That’s right, the mineral vital to bone, muscle, and enzyme health is going down the trash every time you toss your egg shells.
Let us introduce you to a better way to use your old egg shells.
When it comes down to the facts, the National Institute of Health keeps proving that ground up egg shells are a great way to introduce the necessary amount of calcium into the human body.
When you mix some ground egg shells into your diet, your body easily absorbs it and puts it to use. Just half a teaspoon of eggshell calcium gives you 90% of your daily need containing 1000-1500 mg of the good nutrient.
In order to use your old eggshells, gather a large amount together. Then boil them in water for 10 minutes to make sure there is no bacteria or anything on it.
Some people then take it a step further and bake them in the oven at 350 for 10-15 minutes to dry them out. But this step isn’t necessary.
Let your eggshells cool after you boil them. Once that’s happened, put them in a coffee or spice grinder and disintegrate them into a powder.
Now that you’ve got your calcium powder, store it in an air tight jar to promote freshness. Every time you make a smoothie or something just put half a teaspoon in. It’ll be a great boost of the vital mineral.

In recent years, coconut has become wildly popular. Coconut water is available in nearly every grocery store. Coconut flesh is dried and used as flakes on yogurt. Coconut flour replaces traditional flour in baked goods. And coconut milk is used in fashionable curry dishes. As many coconut fanatics know, this large tropical seed not only tastes delicious but is also good for you — especially in the form of coconut oil.
Coconut oil is rich in medium-chain triglycerides, which are the healthy fatty acids also found in dairy products like yogurt and milk, according to LiveStrong. Unlike other fats, these are quickly processed and used for energy, as opposed to being stored. Coconut oil also contains laurie acid and caprylic acid, which are important for treating viruses and bacteria, respectively. Coconut is also a source of vitamin E, vitamin K and iron. Adding coconut oil to your diet can have surprising effects on your health.
1. Support thyroid function. Prevent Disease explains the underlying causes of thyroid issues are problems with inflammation and the immune system. When these are not in check, a person can suffer from an unbalanced thyroid. Coconut oil can be effective in not only helping regulate the immune system but also in decreasing inflammation, making it doubly effective in helping thyroid function. When combined with exercise and an overall balanced diet, regular consumption of coconut oil helps support thyroid function.
2. Increase sun tolerance and avoid sunburn. Your diet can have a surprisingly big effect on your chance of getting a sunburn. According to Wellness Mama, a diet rich in healthy fats can help build your tolerance against the sun. By drinking a cup of herbal tea blended with melted coconut oil, you can increase your intake of medium-chain fatty acids, which are essential for rejuvenating skin and protecting against burning.
3. Treat yeast infections. Coconut oil is rich in laurie acid and caprylic acid, both of which fight against yeast infections. Coconut oil is also a medium-chain fatty acid, which is known to kill yeast as well as viruses and bacteria. Naturopathic physician and president of the Coconut Research Center Dr. Bruce Fife recommends people who are particularly prone to yeast infections consume 3.5 tablespoons of high-quality organic extra virgin coconut oil daily.
4. Boost metabolism. If your metabolism needs a boost, the best thing you can do is introduce medium-chain fatty acids, like coconut oil, into your diet. According to naturopath Dr. John Dempster in an article for Huffington Post, nonhydrogenated coconut oil increases the amount of fat that is burned in your body. As Dempster explains, “We have to eat fat to lose fat.”
5. Soothe eczema and other skin conditions. A personal story published on the National Eczema Association demonstrates how using organic virgin coconut oil can be a lifesaver for people, particularly children, who suffer from eczema and other painful skin conditions like dermatitis. Not only is it all natural and thus unlikely to cause any additional reaction, but it is also easy to apply and requires minimal touch and rubbing to soak into the skin.
6. Alleviate allergies and treat sinus infections. It may sound strange, but putting coconut oil in your nose can have surprisingly positive effects for people who suffer from allergies and sinus infections. Earth Clinic explains coconut oil is a natural antibiotic that is effective when ingested and used in oil pulling and as a nasal rinse. To use coconut oil as a nasal rinse, add liquid coconut oil to purified water mixed with salt or baking soda. Apply the natural nasal rinse using a dropper or neti pot.
7. Relieve constipation. Coconut oil not only boosts your metabolism but is also rich in fiber. It is therefore among the best home remedies to treat constipation. LiveStrong recommends mixing 1/2 teaspoon of virgin coconut oil in an 8-ounce glass of 100 percent natural juice. Drink the entire glass 30 minutes before each meal, three to four times a day. Your body will thank you.
8. Fight acne. Acne is caused by bacterial infections in skin glands. These infections become inflamed, causing those familiar red facial swellings. Coconut oil is a natural antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory, making it highly effective in fighting acne at its source. Organic Facts recommends both consumption and topical application of coconut oil for best results.
Coconut oil has so many positive benefits, it is hard to find a reason not to make it a part of your daily diet. Take the advice of Coconut Mama and use it as a replacement for butter or olive oil when pan-frying just about anything. You can also use it as a substitute for butter or shortening when baking.

The first kid leans over and asks, “What are you in here for?”
The second kid says, “I’m in here to get my tonsils out and I’m a little nervous.”
The first kid says, “You’ve got nothing to worry about. I had that done when I was four. They put you to sleep, and when you wake up they give you lots of Jell-O and ice cream. It’s a breeze.”
The second kid then asks, “What are you here for?”
The first kid says, “A circumcision.”
And the second kid says, “Whoa, Good luck, buddy, I had that done when I was born… Couldn’t walk for a year.”

Today, we’re going to share a joke with you that’s been making rounds on Facebook. Over the last three days alone, it has managed to garner an impressive 15,000 shares. We think you’ll get a real chuckle out of it.
The joke features a preacher, a drunk man, and a hilariously unexpected moment. As the drunk man stumbles through a forest, he runs into a preacher. The preacher asks him “are you ready to find Jesus?”
The drunk man replies with a “yes” and a baptism starts to take place. That’s when things take a comical turn. Take a look below to see the whole joke. An man is stumbling through the woods, totally drunk, when he comes upon a preacher baptizing people in the river.
He proceeds into the water, subsequently bumping into the preacher. The preacher turns around and is almost overcome by the smell of alcohol, whereupon, he asks the drunk, “Are you ready to find Jesus?”
The drunk shouts, “Yes, I am.”
So the preacher grabs him and dunks him in the water. He pulls him back and asks, “Brother, have you found Jesus?”
The drunk replies, “No, I haven’t found Jesus!”
The preacher, shocked at the answer, dunks him again but for a little longer. He again pulls him out of the water and asks, “Have you found Jesus, brother?”
The drunk answers, “No, I haven’t found Jesus!”
By this time, the preacher is at his wit’s end and dunks the drunk again – but this time holds him down for about 30 seconds, and when he begins kicking his arms and legs about, he pulls him up.
The preacher again asks the drunk, “For the love of God, have you found Jesus?!”
The drunk staggers upright, wipes his eyes, coughs up a bit of water, catches his breath, and says to the preacher,
“Are you sure this is where he fell in?”

Instant noodles are popular in U.S because they are one of the easiest things to make and taste delicious. They are especially popular with kids who aren’t confident cooking, or students living on a budget because they are so damn cheap.
What people don’t know is that these noodles is that they increase people’s risk of metabolic changes linked to heart disease and stroke and new research that has recently emerged is particularly worrying. Scroll down to leanr more.
So why are they so bad?
These noodles contain Tertiary-butyl hydroquinone (TBHQ), which is a byproduct of the petroleum industry and food additive frequently to preserve cheap processed foods. A gastrointestinal specialist did an experiment which showed what the noodles do inside the stomach after being consumed and results were scary to say the least.
The findings showed that people who consume these dried noodles regularly have increased risk of developing “metabolic syndrome” regardless of what else they ate as part of a balanced diet, or how much they exercise.
PEOPLE WITH THIS SYNDROME HAVE A RANGE OF HEALTH PROBLEMS INCLUDING
Increased risk of heart diseases, stroke, and diabetes.
High blood pressure
High blood sugar
“Although instant noodle is a convenient and delicious food, there could be an increased risk for metabolic syndrome given [the food’s] high sodium, unhealthy saturated fat and glycemic loads,” said study co-author Hyun Shin, a doctoral candidate at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston.
Hot dogs have become symbolic of America. It’s the go-to treat to snack on while catching a baseball game, and a summer cookout favorite.
Children especially love hot dogs, whether whole in a bun or chopped up into some mac and cheese.
Odds are you have eaten a hot dog, or a dozen, or a thousand. However, you probably don’t know how they’re made. In truth, hot dogs might be fun to eat, but they’re hardly the best thing for you. They are one of the most unhealthy meals out there.
Most of your mass-produced hot dogs are loaded with additives, such as corn syrup, animal fat, and monosodium glutamate.
The worst part is, a lot of what goes into a hot dog is not listed on the label. It’s hard to know what exactly you are putting in your body.
While many major companies make their hot dogs out of a mix of meats, such as pork, beef, and chicken, there are some that produce all-beef franks.
Before you go stocking up on food for your summer cookouts, take a second to think about what you really want to grill up.
If you’re absolutely craving a link, try looking at your locally produced food options. You could even learn how to make sausages and hot dogs at home. It’ll save you money and it’ll save your health.

You probably know turmeric as the bright, pungent spice that features in many Indian curry dishes. But according to food writer Tori Avey, in an article for PBS Food, turmeric has been used as medicine for the past 4,500 years.
Avey explains in the Indian Ayurvedic (“science of life“) tradition, turmeric is revered for its anti-inflammatory properties, as well as its ability to treat congestion, wounds, bruises and other skin conditions, including smallpox and shingles.
Though turmeric is delicious in eggs, rice, soups and smoothies, as recommended by The Kitchn, it can also be mixed with other household ingredients to make topical treatments and ointments to heal everything from acne to cancer.
Heal cuts and wounds. The active ingredient in turmeric is curcumin, a powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-viral agent. Therefore, according to Turmeric for Health, the spice prevents bacterial infection in open wounds, relieves inflammation and pain, and helps form new skin cells to close wounds. To use turmeric to heal wounds and cuts, simply apply turmeric powder directly to the wound. For additional benefits, you can mix turmeric with linseed oil or ginger paste in order to reduce pain.
Facial cleanser and acne treatment. Make an organic facial cleanser using 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/4 teaspoon neem oil (made from a tropical tree native to India and the Indian subcontinent) or substitute the neem oil for organic, free-range milk, and 1- 3 drops of lavender oil or coconut oil. According to Healthy Holistic Living, this face mask is especially good for preventing acne breakouts because both the turmeric and neem oil or milk have anti-fungal properties. Livestrong recommends letting the paste dry on your face for 30 minutes to help heal acne scars.
Reduce inflammation. An article on WebMd explains the active ingredient in turmeric, curcumin, is known to decrease inflammation and swelling. Boost oral health and hygiene. You might be surprised to hear that a bright yellow spice used for centuries to dye textiles is good for oral health. But in fact, a study published in the Journal for Contemporary Dental Practice found that turmeric is equally effective as a mouthwash as typical store-bought products in preventing plaque and gingivitis. Further, the anti-cancer properties of turmeric make it effective for combatting cancer growth, according to a study published in the International Journal of Oncology. To make your own turmeric mouthwash, simply stir turmeric powder into warm water, according to The Alternative Daily. You can also dissolve 10 mg of turmeric extract in 100 ml of water and add peppermint oil for flavoring. Decrease signs of aging. Multicultural Beauty Expert Gerrie Summers claims turmeric is an excellent skin polisher. Her homemade recipe should become a regular part of your beauty routine to combat signs of aging. To make Summers’ skin polisher, mix 1 tablespoon of gram or chickpea flour with 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric and 2 teaspoons of milk. The flour will prevent the turmeric from staining the skin, while also helping to shed dead skin. Milk is used to firm the skin and to slow the formation of wrinkles. Rub the mixture onto your skin and let it dry for 10 minutes. Gently wipe the mask off with your fingertips and then rinse your face with lukewarm water. You can also use a combination of turmeric, gram flour, jojoba oil, lemon juice and milk in order to make a skin brightener that hides age spots and reduce wrinkles.
