Dad Runs To Bedside For Delivery, Looks At Doctor’s Hand And Can’t Believe His Eyes

When Nevaeh Atkins came into the world via C-section, she did something remarkable—she reached out and grabbed the finger of Dr. Allan Sawyer, the physician who was delivering her. Nevaeh grabbed the doctor’s finger after he touched her palm during the procedure.

“Dr. Sawyer broke my water and my daughter reached up out of my stomach and grabbed the Dr.’s finger and my hubby caught this special moment,” Alicia Atkins, Nevaeh’s mother, wrote in a post on Facebook about the birth according to the Huffington Post.

When Sawyer saw what was happening, he told Neveah’s father, Randy Atkins, to take a picture.

Randy Atkins is not a professional photographer, but the picture he took perfectly captures the entrance of a new life into the world.

The snap is reminiscent of Michaelangelo’s fresco painting, “The Creation of Adam,” that adorns the Sistine Chapel.

In the painting, Adam reaches his arm up to heaven with his finger outstretched, while God reaches his finger down from heaven. When their fingers touch, God gives Adam the spark of life.

After seeing the photo Atkins took, Sawyer said to AZ Central, “I’ve delivered about 9,000 babies and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a picture like that before.”

When the Atkins’ found out that Sawyer was moved by the picture, they purchased a canvas print of the photo and gave it to him.

The photo now hangs in one of his exam rooms according to AZ Central.

The Atkins’ also posted the picture on Facebook where it went viral pretty quickly, racking up thousands of likes and views, AZ Central reported.
