Man Gets $128 Ticket, Is Shocked To Learn Reason Behind It

A Michigan man has complained after receiving a ticket on his car while it was idling in his driveway.

Nick Taylor left his vehicle running to warm up for several minutes before leaving home, WXYZ reported.

When he came out of his house, he noticed a $128 ticket on his windshield.

“I thought it was some kind of joke at first, and then I was thrown back by it,” Taylor told WXYZ. “I was really surprised.”

  • Taylor added that the practice was common in Michigan because of the cold.

“I was in and out in probably 7-8 minutes,” added Taylor. “So in that amount of time he ran up here, gave me a ticket and by the time I got out he was nowhere to be seen.”

  • The officer left a note on the ticket.

“Vehicle parked in drive with keys in ignition, motor running — no one around,” it read, according to WDIV.

Taylor posted a picture of the ticket on his Facebook page and received a large number of comments. But the police defended the decision to issue it.

“We have five to ten cars stolen this way every winter,” Roseville Police Chief James Berlin told WXYZ. “It’s dangerous and of course it drives everyone’s insurance rates up. It drives our crime rates up.”
