Mom Drops Milk As Children Begin Screaming In Parking Lot, Suddenly She Notices Elderly Woman

  • Sherman said the gesture brought her to tears.

“It doesn’t seem like a huge deal until you find yourself with two tired kids buckled in their seats, one crying parked almost at the end of the parking lot because it’s NYE,” she said in her post. “Who shops on NYE with kids, LOL.”

The “parking lot grandma” returned not only with the gallon of milk to replace what had spilled, but another gallon of milk and a gift card to the grocery store, Meijer. Sherman asked to pay the woman back for the milk, but she says the woman wouldn’t accept.

“I thanked her, gave her a hug and got into the car,” wrote Sherman. “She has no idea what her act of kindness did for me.”

Sherman said that after her encounter with the woman, she hoped that in 2017, “we can all be a little more like her,” calling for “more love and less hate” in 2017. Meijer officials saw Sherman’s Facebook post, and responded to wish her a happy new year, Michigan Live reports.

“What a great message, and we’re glad to know a fellow shopper could help make your hectic evening a bit easier on you,” said the store’s staff. “We wish both you and your new ‘parking lot grandma’ friend a Happy New Year!”

Sherman said later that her “mission was accomplished” after the grandma saw her post. Commenter Lindy Gasta revealed in a reply to Sherman’s post that it was her mother who had been Sherman’s kind “parking lot grandma.”
